Introduction

The prayer rope is designed as a repetitive prayer which contains the Jesus prayer repeated 33 times, 1 time for each year he was on earth. We open with the Lord's Prayer and repeat it after every 11th recitation of the Jesus Prayer. This is a meditative prayer in which we recite “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God” as we inhale and “have mercy on us, a sinner” as we exhale. As we do this, we visualize breathing in God’s spirit and breathing out our brokenness and transgressions. The Jesus Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us, a sinner. The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
